On Friday, 30 November 2018, Toyota Motor Corporation and Groupe PSA announced a new setup of the companies’ cooperation on European markets. In January 2012, Toyota will take full ownership of Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech s.r.o. in Kolín, which is a joint enterprise manufacturing Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1 compact cars. From the end of 2019, PSA will expand its portfolio of commercial vehicles delivered to Toyota Motor Europe for the European market under the Toyota brand with the new C-VAN manufactured at the PSA Vigo plant in Spain.
Production at the TPCA plant, which was built in the Kolín-Ovčáry industrial zone in 2002 and is operated jointly by Toyota Motor Corporation and Groupe PSA, began in 2005. The plant currently employs 2,400 people and TPCA is one of the biggest exporters in the Czech Republic. According to an agreement concluded by the two parties, TPCA will become part of Toyota Motor Corporation from 2021, thus joining seven other plants operated by Toyota in Europe. The plant will continue to manufacture compact cars for both companies. Toyota plans to continue production at the Kolín plant and retain its workforce there.
More information is available in the press release from TPCA.
